Icons; Amanda, The Vampire Diaries (+ a few thoughts)...

Hi my lovelies, I'm back with another batch for celebs20in20 (of Amanda Seyfried, because I'm that predictable) and another 20 icons of Amanda and "The Vampire Diaries". I'm pretty okay with most of the 20in20 icons, although the Category set doesn't please me that much. I really wanted to work with this new photoshoot of Amanda, because the pics were lovely; but in the end, they were hell to work with - lots of contrast, very little colour. I tried, failed and re-did all of them with textures. Yeah, still not pretty, but not as ugly as before. :S

As for "The Vampire Diaries": My love for Caroline knows no bounds, so it's mostly her. A few from Season 1, a few of her and Tyler from the latest episode (nothing really spoiler-y, though). I don't really know what to think of the last episode, so I'm not writing much. Loved it overall for the thrill of it, loved Caroline, hated really not liked Matt (although they tried so hard in the last ep; sorry show, it's not working), the Tyler twist makes me really, really nervous, everything else (Elena, Stefan, Damon, the Triangle of Doom) was blah. ;)

Oh wow, ich weiß gar nicht was du hast, ich finde das Set umwerfend. Besonders die cat- und ac-Reihe haben es mir angetan. Dein Einsatz der Texturen bei der cat-reihe ist wirklich sehr schön. AC #05 haut mich um. Ansonsten gefällt mir border, paatern, shocked und fav. color sehr gut. Wunderschöne Arbeiten - ehrlich! :)

Ich find's lustig (aber auch toll), wie gut das Cat-Set doch ankommt, denn ich weiß ja, wie es zustande kam und dass das da oben alles nur so eine Art Notlösung ist. ;) Dafür mag ich die AC-Reihe auch sehr gern, die hat wirklich mal Spaß gemacht.

P/S: Freu mich übrigens über die neue DD-Challenge. Ich werd defintiv teilnehmen, aber wahrscheinlich erst kurz vor Hosenknopf. ;)

Hehe, ja manchmal sollte man mir auch nicht zusehen, wie manche icons entstehen ;) Aber das ist ja egal, hauptsache das Ergebnis überzeugt und das tut es ja allemal :)

P.S.: YAY, da freue ich mich, egal wann die icons eingereicht werden ;) Hoffe auch, dass ich noch etwas zustande bekomme^^

P.P.S: Ja, das ist Simon von "Misfits". Finde ihn ja toll. Die Serie ist wirklich gut, solltest du unbedingt mal nachholen. Bin gespannt auf die dritte Staffel, die bald mal kommen sollte *grummel*, wobei da leider einer meiner Lieblingscharkter fehlen wird :( Aber ich möchte nichts verraten ;)

Aw, danke dir! ♥ Das Cat-Set gefällt mir persönlich nicht wirklich, weil ich mich ganz lang damit herumgeärgert habe und wahrscheinlich 30 verschiedene Icons nur dafür gemacht habe. (Und keines war wirklich gut genug, nach meinem Geschmack.) Es freut mich aber, dass es trotzdem gefällt. :)

"Briefe an Julia"! (Ich weiß, der Film ist absolut kitschig, aber ich mag ihn. Und neben Amanda ist Vanessa Redgrave auch noch ganz toll. :D) Aber ich wurde vom Schluckauf gerade noch mal verschont, he. ;)

Da haben wir ihn wieder, den krassen Gegensatz zwischen Eigen- und Fremdwahrnehmung! Ich finde aber durchaus, dass du da angetan sein kannst. Ich find die wirklich schön, eben mal was anderes, was ich ja grundsätzlich eh immer begrüße :) Ich kenne das aber auch, man werkelt und werkelt und im Endeffekt hat man Stunden verbracht und je länger es dauert, desto unzufriedener ist man mit dem Ergebnis ;)

Kitschig muss nicht immer schlecht sein *find* du sprichst mit einer Person, die total auf diesen ganzen Disney-Glitzer-wahre-Liebe-pink-Kitsch steht :D Ich fand den Film auch echt sehr süß ♥ Musste aber bei Vanessa Redgrave sofort wieder an "Abbitte" denken *grusel* und ich habe mich die ganze Zeit gefragt, ob Gael Garcia Bernal jemals eine bescheuerte Rolle gespielt hat. Himmel ging mir der Kerl auffn Zeiger *augenroll*

The AC icons have such great coloring, and I love the lighting in AC3. Her hair looks radiant in that piece! The crop in AC5 is beautiful, my dear!

Totally admire the gutsy compositions for your Cat set. You know how i feel about circles in icons, right? :)

The darkness and lighting in Shocked is fabulous, and the vibrant orange in Halloween is so appropriate and eye-catching!

Aw, thanks so much, Kim! I had so much fun with the whole AC set! (Although it's funny to see which are everyone's faves; they're completely contradictoy to mine. ;))

The whole Cat set was a cop-out because I was unhappy with everything I made before. Circles are great and you were completely right with those textures: They're beautiful and deserve the credit.

It's so rare for a maker's faves to match up with their watchers' faves!

What makes it a cop-out? Do you think that because you used similar textures to make it look cohesive or something? I think that's a smart choice. I love when people's sets actually look like a tight unit!

Haha, I know. It's funny how everyone seems to like AC#5 so much - I mean, I like it but it almost didn't make "the cut". I'm glad I kept it though. :D

The category set just didn't turn out how I wanted it to. The set I posted actually is the third version I made and I only decided to use textures because the photoshoot of her was all hard contrast and barely colours. It seemed easier to use textures because (to me, at least) the focus was more on the texture than on the original image. In the end I feel like I failed because I couldn't work well with the images and took the easy way out.

These were two icons I made previously to this (just for reference):

To me, they just don't "pop" - there's nothing that catches my eye and (more importantly) they look LQ. :S

That was your third completed version of the set?! Dyum, you are dedicated, Ani. I tip my hat to you for not giving up easily, like I know I would! Textures are meant to enhance the images you use, and if the pix you had to work with didn't have much color, then it was wise to use textures to spice them up! It looks like you had to do plenty to churn out that set, so there's nothing easy about it. Lots of compositional work and texture manipulation were obviously involved!

I started pretty early in this round, so I had enough time to make it ~perfect. (At least trying to make it as good as I could.) I couldn't not post them, so I tried to churn out something I wasn't completely unhappy with. ;)

P/S: The second one almost pleased me enough but when I was finally ready to post everything, it just didn't fit in with the rest of the Cat-set anymore.
