Recurring TVD icon post; feat. Caroline, Rebekah and Tyler...
Okay, I made a crapload of TVD icons: a bunch of Caroline icons, of course (a random collection of Season 2 and 3 scenes), some Caroline/Tyler icons (as always), also 2 or 3 Rebekah (however you spell her) icons because I kind of like her.

While we're at it, a few random thoughts on yesterday's TVD episode:

Okay guys, please tell me there is someone out there who hates Matt as much as I do! I can't believe they're dragging down Jeremy to prop Matt and I cannot believe they're even comparing Matt's "sacrifice" (come on, he chose Elena over Vicky; it was not like he the Town's or even someone else's safety over his beloved sister - he chose his ex-girlfriend [who he's still obsessed over, me thinks] over his already dead sister) to Jeremy's hanging on to the girl he still loves.
I just... I hate Matt so much. I don't even know what it is about him that rubs me the wrong way... he's just so useless and I can't hear his whining anymore. He's the only one of the kids who's still human - he can easily walk away from all of this, so don't tell me his live is so fucking hard when everyone else's life is as hard or even harder. I just can't hear it anymore.

On a positive note: Caroline was still awesome and I love that they seem to rekindle her friendship with Bonnie. These two need some storylines apart from Elena, Damon, Stefan... (Matt; although I fear they're setting up Matt/Bonnie; meh, still better than Matt/Caroline.)

I loved Anna and I'm so sad she's gone (can she come back, please?). But I'm so glad she found her mom. Excuse me while I wipe away my tears.

Mason's back and I loved that he wasn't out for revenge but redemption. See, this is how you do it - you don't need to show some tragic background to make someone more likeable (I'm looking at you, Matt!); show me that he recognises his own mistakes and wants to do better and wants to help others get better and I'm all sold. I liked his scenes with Damon. I... think it was kind of refreshing to see other character constellations.

I wish Lexi could have stayed. I wish Lexi and Caroline could have met. So much wasted potential on both points. :(

Elena... oh Elena. She's such a hyprocrit, I can't even. The things she told Jeremy? Yeah, whatever, look at yourself, honey! Where the heck is Katherine when I need her? Can't we just switch the two of them, please?

Well, okay, I'm all good. I'm sorry for the mini-rant. It's not like I don't like TVD, some (okay, most) of the storylines just rub me the wrong way at the moment. I hope it gets better (when they kill of Matt eventually, hopefully).

I'm shutting up now. I still have icons.
01-26 The Vampire Diaries (Caroline from S2 and S3, Caroline/Tyler from 3.03 and 3.06, Rebekah)

Consider me the honesty police. )

On a more personal note: I'm still cowardly avoiding taking the final steps for my thesis. (I still need to e-mail two professors concerning the papers I've written in the last semester. I also still need to finish one last paper in Diachrony. I just... I only have one month left and I have to meet this deadline. Blergh.)

We also finally have a new cat. She's still sort of nameless (she was supposed to be called 'Jack' because she was supposed to be a tomcat... but she's definitely not) and pretty much scared by everything (but a sweetheart and very cuddly if she's gotten used to someone). ;)

I really need to shut up now. ♥

Icon and rambling overload; I'm sorry.
Okay, so this post has been in the queue for what feels like an eternity... Because of that, I'll take the liberty to tick off some topics from my to-do list. So excuse me if this post seems to be all over the place, it's just a random collection of thoughts. ;)

First of all, I watched "Never Let Me Go", which is a truly depressing movie. On a scale from 1 to "Atonement" (because let's be honest, "Atonement" is the most depressing movie. of. all. time.) I'd give it an 8, solely for Carey Mulligan's amazing performance. It was fantastic how she conveyed every single emotion through her eyes. She was beautiful to watch, as was Andrew Garfield if I may say so - they had perfect chemistry (the kids, too - and the kids' performances were great in their own right). But holy f*cking Batman, what a sad and beautiful movie. Has anyone of you guys read the book?

Secondly, I'm in the process of finding a topic for my thesis - I actually found a topic I'm quite interested in, the only thing is I have to e-mail my professor and ask him if the topic is as okay as I hope it is. I'm a bit scared he rejects it and I have to settle for something I have no real understanding of. *sigh* :S

Also, just a few quick notes on "The Vampire Diaries", because they were on my mind since the premiere: Am I the only one who doesn't know what to think of Elena? She condemns one brother for the things he's done (which is the right thing to do, of course) and totally ignores the bad things the other brother has done and does right now. Why? Your hypocrisy, I see it. Bring back Katherine and get rid of Elena, please. Also, am I getting this right: Caroline's gay dad tries to "fix" her and change her very nature, a thing she has no control over whatsoever? Shouldn't he, I don't know, know better than this? As much as I love Papa Bennet Jack Coleman, there is something not quite right here. Nevertheless, I loved HRG as Caroline's dad and I hope he will be back.
Besides that, I kind of lose interest in all the main characters. Elena is just plain stupid by now; I never really cared for Damon to begin with (although I always liked Ian Somerhalder, this is difficult for me, okay!); I don't know what the show's doing with Stefan - I never really liked him either, but that his killing innocents gets whitewashed constantly enrages me to no end; I hate Matt with a fiery passion; and where the heck is Bonnie? I adore Caroline and I'd love to see more of her and her mom and Tyler. The rest of the storylines... are rather boring right now. :S

Last but not least, a quick question that bugs me everytime I post an icon batch: Has anyone else got the problem of not knowing when exactly to post icons? (And with "when", I clearly don't mean the time of day or month.) I'm always like: "Oh well, I'm still making icons for Topic A, so the post has to wait." Which results in me never making a post, because they're too old or I don't like them anymore or I never stop iconing a certain topic/celeb. (I'm looking at you, Ms. Seyfried!)
That's why I've grown to like 20in20 challenges so much. I have to post the icons someday. I'm loving deadlines anyway and really can't live without them anymore. (Try writing a paper due "sometime". Duh, it took me nearly 3 years to finish it.)

But oh well, this time I'm posting a batch - no challenge, no deadline, still iconning these people/movies and nevertheless, a post here is! It's mainly a collection of my entries at [livejournal.com profile] amandastills with some "Titanic" and "Atonement" (of course!) icons thrown in.

Sorry for the long prologue, I will shut up now and tell you what's in the post:
01-23 - Amanda Seyfried
24-30 - Titanic (I wanted to icon a lot of Rose, but the caps were a pain (for me at least) - and I was just incapable of producing anything I liked really; so there are fewer than I wanted and they turned out worse than I imagined. Oh well...)
31-44 - Atonement (I can't get over how beautiful this movie is, so excuse the overload of posts about it! It breaks my heart everytime I watch/read it, but it's so tremendously perfect, I just can't stop...)

I am covered in skin, no one gets to come in )

I think I've found my Mecca...
Hi my lovelies, I'm back and had a really wonderful time. It's all been tremendously beautiful, I don't even have words. Everything went well, nobody was hurt, the car still worked at the end of our journey after driving for over 1.500+ miles. (I feel like we took the same amount by foot. ;)) I brought some pictures for you - just a few because I haven't gotten through them all yet. (I alone took over 500 and we had 3 other cameras with us. Yeah, you get the gist.)

Bath, Oxford, London... and a rainbow. )

I'll now wade through all your posts and comments and will hopefully answer all of them by the time I'm leaving for my next short vacation next Wednesday. (Don't look at me like that! My grandma takes me with her. :))

I also feel rather creative since I'm back and made a wallpaper inspired by my latest rewatch of "Atonement". And because I'm indecisive as usual, I made two slightly different versions.

Robbie and Cecilia, still alive, still in love... )

Gosh, I'm having such a hard time with those stupid LJ-Cuts, it's not even funny anymore. :S

Zeig her deine Tasche!

Unterm Strich der Inhalt. Ihr wisst, dass ihr es wollt... )
